Seatuck and the Environmental Defense Fund have partnered to hire Brian Kelder as the first-ever EDF Puleston Fellow at Seatuck. In his new position, Brian is working on Long Island coastal fisheries and saltmarsh issues.

In particular, he's focusing on advancing diadromous fish restoration efforts in places like the Carmans River, Swan River and the Carlls River. He'll also be representing the organizations in Suffolk County's effort to craft a new Wetlands Stewardship Strategy.

Brian, who hails from the Catskills region and has been living in Syracuse, holds degrees from Cornell University and SUNY School of Environmental Science and Forestry. He has worked on and studied a broad range of fisheries issues, including salmon recovery in the Pacific Northwest, walleye spawning habitats in the Great Lakes region, and sturgeon tracking in the Hudson.

Under the EDF/Seatuck partnership, Brian is employed by both organizations, but will be on Seatuck's staff and based at Scully. His title is the EDF Puleston Fellow at Seatuck in honor of legendary Long Island naturalist and EDF founder, Dennis Puleston.
