2010 Alewife Survey - Underway Volunteers are helping Long Island fishery biologists search for alewives returning to Long Island's streams and rivers for their annual spawning migration (April-May). These efforts are important to help inform restoration efforts for alewife, a native species of river herring that is important to the Island's coastal ecosystems. The survey runs through May 30th. Let us know if you're interested in joining the effort.
